Derya Akdurak

He was born in Izmir in 1965. He completed his undergraduate education at Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Architecture. During his university years, he had the opportunity to do his internship in Milan. He received his master's degree in restoration and interior design at Politecnico Di Milano. During this period, he worked in the offices of Ettore Sottsas, George Sowden and Bruno Pozzi in Milan. He returned to Izmir in 1989 and founded Makomim. He carried out various projects in the company, which works on architecture and interior design. Continuing his work on interior projects, the designer also turned to product design since 2000 and created the Megaron furniture collection in 2002. The main concern that occupies the designer is to produce exciting solutions for materials, production and usage purposes in the rich formal world of architecture and interior applications. The indispensable element of the designer is to produce the right design perfectly, with the right material and the right detail.

Design Process

In line with their architectural knowledge, the Makomim team strives to transform spatial needs into instruments of pleasure with the quality of materials, details and workmanship in their applications. While the comfort targeted in the solutions is designed with a solid infrastructure and manufacturing, the design language of the company is to avoid unnecessary crowds and excesses in use. In architectural projects, there is a continuity that is sensitive and pursues perfection with the attention to detail that comes with dealing with interior spaces.

Megaron Collection, which was first launched in Paris in 2003, is the furniture collection of the company, which also provides services in boat and industrial design.
